FAILURE - In Britain , sex down 20 % in a decade

This is a " recession " that the best economists had certainly not expected. The third British study of sexual attitudes and behaviors , published Tuesday, November 26 and relayed by the Guardian, shows that the age group of 16-44 years now has less than five sex per month on average. The previous study, conducted in 2000 , attributed 6.2 reports per month to men, women and 6.3 reports , a decrease of 20% in a decade.
According to Kaye Wellings , a professor at the London Hygiene and Tropical Medicine School , this result could be explained by the economic crisis that hit the country in 2008. According to the specialist, " a period of unemployment is accompanied indeed a period of low sexual activity [...] , mainly because of a drop in self-esteem or depressive feeling ." In addition, those who kept a job could be facing more intense working conditions , thereby reducing the number of sexual individuals.
But many other hypotheses could explain this significant decrease. Finally, one of the last tracks outlined in the study shows an increasing lack of public interest in sex . In total, 14.9 % of men and 34.2 % of women have indeed said " a lack of interest in sex ", in relation to their experience of the previous year.
Hope for those who find it slightly depressing report , the study shows that the British are however more open regarding sexual life. If adultery is largely frowned upon , tolerance for " one night stands " has made great strides in women. They now report an average 7.7 sexual partners in their lives, while they had an average of 3.7 in the first study and conducted , there are twenty years. In men, this figure rose from 8.6 to 11.7 partners, over the same period .
The British also continue to have sex later in life. Nearly 60 % of men and 42% of women between 65 and 74 years - a disparity due to the fact that women are more likely to be widowed or without a partner - reported having had at least one sexual partner in the previous year .
